our roots

MEEKSTER BRAU has deep roots, not only was the first batch of home brew created back in 1984, on Pleasure Point, in Santa Cruz - the roots run much deeper - as far back as the mid 70’s with the birth of the Nor Cal vert/pool skating scene. This is when we met some of our life long friends through skateboarding. Specifically the summer of 1977 when the Los Altos Pool (The Orange Bowl) and Pipe (Bombora) were the gathering spots for the best Nor Cal vert skaters of that era. Soon to follow were all the Skateparks being built in the area- Winchester, Campbell, Skatepark Victoria in Milpitas were some of the best Skateparks that existed to this day. This is where the friendships and bonds that were made earlier continued and expanded into an even larger family. Rippers like Rick Blackhart, Kevin Thatcher, Steve Weston, Robert Schlaefli, Peter Gifford, Tim Lockfeld, the Buck Brothers, Scott Foss, Jim Martino, Bob Denike, Danny Casares, Mofo, Mike Fox, Howard Kveck, Steve Caballero, myself and a mass of other local rippers. Along with our extended Skate Family members from throughout the Nor Cal scene like Joe Fong, The Alot-A-Flex crew, Tommy and Tony Guerrero, Bryce Kanights, Aaron Lasnover, Ray Meyer, Randy Katen and the N-Men boys - and many others - all continued to make a name for Nor Cal Skateboarding.

This is where the brotherhood began, MEEKSTER BRAU is about Nor Cal Pride, not chasing glory or fame but just doing what we do…
